Outlawed party leader arrested in Ishwardi

Police yesterday arrested Humayan Kabir alias Aslam, 30, a regional leader of an extremist outfit, and one of his accomplices at Ishwardi bus terminal. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the terminal at about 2.00pm and arrested Aslam and Idris Ali when they came there from Joypurhat to board a Pabna-bound bus. They are the residents of Jordaha village under Sathia upazila of Pabna district Police also recovered one mobile phone set and some papers relating to their activities from them. Aslam is an accused in 20 cases, including 12 murder cases, police said.
