Trader critically shot for refusing to pay toll

Miscreants shot and critically injured a businessman at Hasimpur Bazar on Tuesday for not paying toll.

Quoting local people, police said a gang allegedly led by one Taleb, reportedly a local leader of New Biplobi Communist Party (NBCP), had demanded Tk one lakh toll from Jalal Uddin, also former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Kumarkhali Degree College.

As he refused, Taleb with his gang came to Jalal's grocery at the market, drugged him out and shot him point blank in the chest and abdomen.

Critically injured Jalal was rushed to a local hospital and then sifted to Kushtia General Hospital.
