Thai embassy to issue visa in Ctg from Jan 1


Thai embassy will start issuing visas in Chittagong on January 1 while a Thai consulate will be set up here soon.

Ambassador of Thailand Phithak Phrombubpha disclosed this while exchanging views with the leaders of Chittagong Chamber and Commerce and Industry (CCCI) here yesterday.

The ambassador said Thailand will take part in the forthcoming 12th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) where his country will set up 60 stalls displaying eco-friendly products.

Chamber President Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury welcomed the decision on issuance of visa from Chittagong and said that it would benefit the visa seekers.

Chamber Vice-President Monzoor-Ul-Amin Chowdhury, also the chairman of the trade fair infrastructure development committee, said the fair would have more facilities and tighter security measures than previous ones.

Large and multinational companies from the USA, Russia, Canada, India, Pakistan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Iran and South Korea would also take part in the fair, he said.

Counsellor Virasak Chullawichit, Thai embassy minister, also attended the meeting.
