31 rly staff sued for graft


Thirty-one officials of Bangladesh Railway (BR) have been sued for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of Tk 5.99 crore, showing fake pensioners in the last three years.

An anti-corruption officer of the railway filed three separate cases against them with Kamalapur GRP yesterday, GRP sources said.

In the cases, Mohammad Abdus Sattar, anti-corruption officer of Bangladesh Railway, alleged that the officials misappropriated the money of Dhaka Railway Station at Kamlapur from 2001 to 2003.

Earlier, separate departmental investigation committees of BR probed the involvement of the officials in misappropriating the money, the officer stated in the cases.
