Daily Star-Viqarunnisa School English Debate
Viqarunnisa, Mastermind become champions


A total of 54 winners were awarded in different categories at the closing ceremony of the Third The Daily Star-Viqarunnisa Noon School and College English Debate Championship-2003 yesterday.

Ten schools and 16 debating clubs took part in the competition. Viqarunnisa Noon School and College became the champion in the school category while Mastermind School Debating Club became the champion in the club category.

The Daily Star and the Viqarunnisa Noon Debating Club jointly organised the week-long competition at the college auditorium. The Daily Star has been sponsoring the event for the last three years.

Eminent educationist Professor Serajul Islam Chowdhury gave away crests and certificates to the winners as chief guest.

Moureen Mahbuba Moyeen, president of the Viqarunnisa Noon Debating Club, Professor Serajul Islam Chowdhury and Mahfuz Anam, editor of The Daily Star, spoke at the ceremony.

Chief Patron and Principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Rowena Hossain and Shamim Jahan Ahsan, moderator of the debating club, also spoke.
